MICHELE BATTISTE, Formerly the MFA Poetry Fellow in Wichita State University's master of fine arts creative writing program, Battiste recently returned to her native New York to pursue a career in indentured servitude. Michele hosts a monthly poetry series at Waltz Cafe in Astoria. It usually runs on the last Monday of the month and includes a feature and an open mic.
