Then the slam. Arthur did the calibration poem. It was phat. He read it last
night at the Cobbler party, which was busted. The slammers were Paige (who just
missed making the team by one tenth of a point), Livers (I liked her poems a
lot), Sarah, Lukas with the lid off, Alex, J.R., Jake, Patrick, and Kafui.
Kafui won the $22, which he donated to the team for the trip. Alex came in
second. They will both be on the team representing Ithaca in the National Youth Poetry Slam in
Ann Arbor in April.
The audience was very nice. $44 was donated. This went 1/2 to the slam
winner, and 1/2 to the fund to send the people to the National Youth
Poetry Slam Festival.
Some of my friends came, including Jenny, Luna, Tamara, Vanessa, Elizabeth, and my already mentioned poet friends.
