The Slam:
Andy (I)went first, reading a poem about Diana Ortiz that was published in the spring 2001 CUSLAR newsletter. Adam Stone of Burlington went next. He beat Andy's 23.1 with a 25.7. Jenny Mikulski of Ithaca then got the highest score of the first round, a 27.9 with her poem about feeding supermodels. Burlington's Michael Nedell did a hilarious piece about the mall of doom. After a .5 time penalty, he got a 26.4. Burlington was still ahead. Lenelle Moise did her wonderful piece about women in the Bible and got a 27.5. The other Adam (Jesus) from Burlington got a 24.4 and Ithaca took the lead. Michelle Berry did a great new piece about a childhood trip to Rochester. After a 2 point time penalty she got a 26.2. Vermont's Seth Jarvis got a 24.4 for a beautiful love poem. Ivy, our intense, featured slammer, finished the round.
Ithaca kept the lead throughout the second round. Seth started with a
cool, language piece, 25.4. Ithaca did our AAA group piece 28.1. Michael did a
poem about being off, 26.1. Andy did a prison piece, 26.2. Adam Stone got the
highest score of the night, 29.4 with a math, love poem. Michelle got a 29.2 for
a piece about her conception. The other adam got a 27 after a .5 penalty and
Lenelle got a 27.8 with a brand new magnificent poem. Ivy finished the night
with grace. The final score was Burlington 208.8, Ithaca 216.
