Many friends and poetry lovers came to the grand slam at Juna's on Friday, May 2, 2003, including Alicia, Dawn, Susan, Amanda, Neal, Amaryllis, Skye, Marya, Laurie.

Bari Berger, Soule Golden, Rudy, Andy, and Magdala read in the open mic. Magdala also emceed the open mic.

Marty McConnell came up from NYC to feature and emcee. Marty is famous in the slam world for being a 2000 National Poetry Slam finalist and also for being the slammaster at Bar 13, Union Square, NYC. She was wonderful.

Poets who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or fourth in semi-final slams competed in the grand slam to be on Team Ithaca 2003. Those poets were Brandon, Liz, Livers, Ben, Andy, and Jeni. Ben won. Liz and I tied for second. Brandon was the people's choice. Jeni is the alternate.

After the slam some of my friends and I hung out and talked poetry.
