The open mic was phat. Jeni, Kim, Karen, BariBerger, Hallee, Julie, Jason, Johnna, Charlene, and Andy read.
Then the grand slam. Alana picked the judges and emceed. Livers did the calibration poem and also kept score; her friend, Amanda, counted the people's choice votes. The order was Lauren, Yoni, Lukas, Jeni, Ben, Aubryn, Patrick, and Andy. Ben took the first round with Saigon Child, followed by Patrick, Aubryn, and Jeni. I did a new poem about Mumia.
I took the second round with Seattling McDonalds, followed by Patrick, Jeni, Lauren and Ben (tie). Lauren took the last round, scoring a 29.9 for her poem that needs a drink, followed by Jeni, Patrick, and Ben (who got a 30, but had a time penalty deduction).
The winner of the grand slam was Patrick; Ben was second; and Jeni, third. The people's choice was Lauren. Aubryn and I tied in score, but Aubryn got more people's choice vote, so she's the alternate.
