Wow, another full house, and lots of poets - we're on a roll. And what a great audience, so supportive. And they donated generously to help pay the $400 fee for Ithaca to send a team to Austin for the National Poetry Slam this summer.
The open mic was phat. Nolan and Sarah came all the way from Norwich and did a duet. Jane Cassady came all the way from Syracuse with Amy, her partner, also a poet, and another friend who kept score at the slam. Jane hosts a weekly open mic in Syracuse every Monday at the Coffee Pavilion. Jane and Amy both graced the open mic. Angad came down from the hill with an entourage and shared his wise verse. Jessica and Nathan also shared some of their beautiful heartfelt poetry. Amanda made her sweet debut. And Bill did some minimalist love and philosophical poems that were wonderful. Great open mic.
Mina emceed the slam. Sonya, Andy, Sarah, Kate, Nolan, Amy, Jane, Andrew, and Pricilla slammed. Jane won the first round, followed by Kate, then Andrew. Sonya won the second round, followed again by Kate, then Andrew. Kate ended up winning, but snce she already was qualified, Andrew, Sonya, and Jane qualified for the semi's in April. I, Andy, did two new pieces about the St. Patrick's Day 4.
Some friends came, including Livers, Sue and Jay, Robert and others.
