Good open mic - 10 poets: Nat Ferriss, Oliver, Aishlin, Rich from Norwich, Sarah, Amanda, Paul Fitzimmons, Kimari, Mina, and Jane who hosts a weekly open mic in Syracuse every Monday at the downtown YMCA. Richard, Jane, and Kate went to Austin last summer as part of team Ithaca 2006. And then the feature, Matt Siegel and Devon Branca. They were great. Matt was on team Ithaca in 2005 and represented fabulously in Albuquerque, taking a first place on the first night. Then the slam. Amanda sacrificed. Mina emceed. Amy kept score. It was only one round. I went first, doing "Vincent Delicious," then Kate, Margaret from Norwich, J.J. who came with Matt and Devon, then Rich, then a duet by Nolan and Sarah from Norwich, then Paul, Patrick, Brian Fransden from Salt Lake City, and Zoe Dimitri. Rich won. Kate came in second, then Andy, Brian, Zoe, and the duet Sarah & Nolan. Rich, Kate, and Zoe qualified, since I had already qualified and Brian probably won't be around.
So, it was a wonderful night at Juna's. Some of my friends came by, including Kimari, Dawn & Bob & Tom, Emily, Sue, Denny, Kitty, Cami, Nicole, and some previously mentioned poet friends.
